Abstract: The singular points and assymptote lines of velocity fields are important in analysing the properties of two-dimensional velocity fields but normally difficult to identify an adaptive mesh refinement method based on the law of mass conservation has been created which can find the point and lines and has been verified by analytical velocity fields. This thesis shows characteristics of the method for two dimensions using the two dimensional lid-driven cavity flow.
