Abstract: The aim of the research was to create a Web service for the Fiji Library Association that would meet the needs of both its members and its Council. The research examines issues facing the Fiji Library Association, such as the lack of resources and an inactive membership, and ascertains the benefits that both its Council and ordinary members would gain from a having a Web service. These include a higher profile both for the Association and for libraries in Fiji, better communication channels and the provision of more up to date information. Appropriate resources and information to be offered via the Web service are identified, based on the perceived needs of the users and common characteristics of other association Web sites. Suggestions are also made for future development of the Web service, including an online directory of Fiji libraries. The Web pages created for the service are reproduced in full, accompanied by a schematic showing their relationship to each other in the Web site. Design principles incorporated in the pages are discussed in detail, looking at the pages in general and individually. The research concludes by saying that the introduction of a Web service marks an important stage in the development of the Fiji Library Association and may provide the necessary catalyst for action and change.
