Abstract: Sixteen genera of plant parasitic nematodes were found in taro fields on both Upolu and Savaii, Western Samoa. Six of the total genera recovered were considered to be of economic importance in taro. Out of 25 taro root samples examined, 42% Meloidogyna, 5%Radopholus, 5% Aphelenchoidec, 27% Rotylenchulus and 80% Pratylenchus were present. Other plant parasitic nematodes found were considered to be of lesser importance in taro production.
