Abstract: Renewable energy (RE) systems continue to grow around the globe on daily basis. Distributed RE plays a vital role in providing access to energy in many remote areas around the world especially to dispersed populations in the Pacific Island Countries (PICs) who lack access to affordable and sustainable energy. The main objectives of this study were to assess the energy needs of a remote island, Yanuca, determine RE resource potentials on the island and implement some interventions for RE access to cater for the energy needs. Strategies for energy access are proposed for the community to plan for a 100% RE future and techno-economic analysis of the implemented systems are also carried out.
