Abstract: Porites lutea, are an important reef building coral species which, like other massive Scleractinian corals, contains an archive of growth history in its skeleton. In this study, an analysis was done of the chronological record of growth rates and growth anomalies in Porites lutea from various sites across Fiji. This facilitates linking the annual growth rate to environmental, biophysical and meteorological variables influencing the coral’s growth.
