Abstract: Hector's dolphins (Cephalorhynchus hectori) are only found in the coastal waters of New Zealand and are officially listed as vulnerable to extinction in the wild in the medium to long term future. The highest concentrations are in the waters around Banks Peninsula of the South Island. Due to their neritic distribution, Hector's dolphins are susceptible to deleterious impacts from human activities in the coastal zone.
